It’s that time of year that flowers beautifully bloom and birds sing sweetly. Here in western Washington we tend to have more blue skies and less rain. Spring is such a pretty season here! What a lovely time to get married!

Of course weddings happen year round, but more frequently in spring and summer. Not just here, but typically all over the United States. With more couples walking down the aisle, it can become increasingly difficult to find available vendors that you need for your special day. As soon as you have a specific, or at least approximate, date in mind, it will be beneficial to start reaching out to ensure you have the support you need.
Do you want live music or a DJ or both? Is there a need for a wedding planner to help with logistics? What a about flowers? Besides a bouquet, do you need corsages, or centerpieces for the reception? How about my favorite part… the sweet stuff! Do you want chocolate, vanilla or lemon cake? Or maybe you want to do something uniquely fun, like a tower of cupcakes, overflowing platter of doughnuts or gourmet cake pops. It’s your day! Create it the way you want it! Consider mixing it up and putting a personalized twist on your special day!

Depending on the size and preferred feel of your wedding, you may or may not need paid vendors for all of the needed roles. There may be talented people within your circle of family and friends that would love to add to your celebration! Whether a musician, baker, florist or graphic designer for your invitations, pulling from your list of loved ones may be something to consider. At the same time, giving them the opportunity to enjoy the day as a guest is also a worthwhile thought. Your choices will essentially create the flavor of your day. Again, it is your event, so you get to decide. Whether a collaboration of those close to you, or supported by other professionals, you can create the day however you wish. Isn’t that fun?! You’ve spent so much time thinking about this upcoming step. Now it’s time to decide how to make this day truly yours.

I went to a wedding vendor event several years ago and the group that was putting it on shared their research information. They stated that statistically the officiant is most often the last participant chosen during the planning of a wedding. Did you know that? In a way it makes sense, as it may seem that they will impact the success of the day the least. I mean, delicious cake is important and needs to please! Especially sweet toothed people like me! Seriously though, you want a certain type of flowers and music and yes, food. The officiant just stands there and is needed to make it all legal.
Something to consider however, is that since the officiant will be standing in front of your guests, and their part takes place at the beginning of your monumental event, their energy and presentation will set the tone. Whether serious and formal, humorous and casual, high energy, low energy, friendly, professional, pleasant, or whatever your officiant exudes. It is their individual energy that will be experienced by your guests. Not to mention you! The same really goes for every vendor or volunteer that is helping with your wedding. So, choose wisely!
