After over twenty years of officiating weddings I have learned a thing or a thousand about weddings. The thought of becoming a wedding planner and/or a day of coordinator has entered my mind many times. In addition to being able to make it legal for couples wanting to get married, I enjoy helping with planning, including creative things to add, and innovative ways to save them money.
My main goal when working with a couple as an officiant is to help the process and their experience on the day of be as low stress as possible. This intent is why I have ventured fully into the realm of wedding planning. Drawing on my many years of experience, my desire to lessen couples’ stress, and my love of creativity and event planning make this a natural transition. I actually can’t wait!
Officiating will still be a predominant service I offer. In fact, I can both plan and organize, as well as officiate your wedding. Emceeing receptions is another thing I have done, and it actually allowed me to act as the couple’s day of coordinator, since they didn’t have one. Outside of the time I was actively officiating, I was able to step into the other role and make sure the activities of the day flowed smoothly.
When I have worked as an officiant on weddings that had a wedding planner they have often commented and appreciated my attention to detail. Couples have mentioned their appreciation of this attribute also. I know that is a quality that can be annoying at times! But in the realm of event planning it comes in very helpful.
